Clogged waterlines in dental units can be a pain. Don’t worry, we’re here to help.

Why Waterlines Clog

Dental waterlines are small, narrow tubes that can accumulate bacteria and form biofilm, leading to clogs and reduced water flow if left untreated. Here are 3 steps that can help reduce clogging.

ONE: Shock the Waterlines

To remove excessive bacteria from the dental waterlines, use Liquid Ultra shock treatment. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use to complete the shocking procedure. Flush the lines with Liquid Ultra until the solution is sitting in the waterlines. Allow the solution to sit overnight and check the lines in the morning.

Note: Never shock through the BluTube. Use included dummy straw instead.

TWO: Flush, Flush, and Flush

It is important to flush the waterlines with hot water to help remove any bacteria buildup. Debris may come out of the lines during this process, and this is perfectly normal, so continue flushing until only water flows through the lines.

THREE: Repeat Steps One and Two

In some cases, it may take several shock treatments and aggressive flushing with hot water to fully unclog the dental waterlines. Repeat steps one and two until water is flowing consistently through the line. Once the waterlines have been flushed, refill the bottle with cool water before treating patients.
